If you can put to rest
The mind that frantically seeks
From moment to moment,
You will be no different from old

เมื่อผู้ใดบรรลุถึงธรรมกาย ...
ผู้นั้นย่อมไม่มีความปรารถนา
เขาเป็นต้นกำเนิดของสรรพสิ่งในฝ่ายบุญ
และธรรมชาติอันแท้จริงของเขา ก็คือ พุทธะ
รูปขันธ์ และ นามขันธ์ ล้วนมาแล้วก็จากไป
เหมือนเมฆขาวบนท้องฟ้าใส
ความโลภ ความโกรธ ความหลง
ทั้งสามสิ่งเป็นดุจฟองคลื่นที่เกิดขึ้นและหายไป
เหมือนภาพลวงตาบนผิวมหาสมุทร

When one realizes completely the Dharma-body,
he sees no object.
He, himself, is the source of all things,
and his true nature is
another name of the eternal Buddha.
Material things and mental phenomena
come and go like clouds in the blue sky.
Greed, anger and ignorance
-these three foams appear and disappear
like a mirage on the ocean.

เดินใน หยุดนอก
จงพักความคิดคำนึงต่างๆ
แล้วหยุดการสอดส่ายจิตออกนอกตัว
เมื่อมีสิ่งต่างๆปรากฏขึ้นกับจิต
จงกำหนดรู้สิ่งเหล่านั้นด้วยสติและวางใจ
ให้สิ่งเหล่านั้น ดำเนินการไปตามธรรมชาติ
แค่นี้ ท่านก็ไม่มีอะไรจะต้องเป็นกังวลอีกต่อไป

Just put thoughts to rest and
don't seek outwardly anymore.
When things come up,
Then give them your attention;
Just trust what is function in you at present,
And you have nothing to be concerned about.

ความว่างเปล่า
ความว่างเปล่าที่นี่ที่นั่นได้ประจักษ์อยู่ต่อหน้าเสมอ
มีทั้งกว้างใหญ่อย่างไร้ขอบเขตและเล็กจนสุดพรรณนา
แต่ก็ไม่มีความแตกต่างกัน เพราะต่างก็ไม่มีคำนิยาม
และต่างก็ไม่มีขอบเขตให้มองเห็น
เช่นเดียวกับการดำรงอยู่ และการไม่ดำรงอยู่ด้วย
จงอย่าได้เสียเวลาไปกับการลังเลสงสัย และการโต้เถียงกัน
ถึงสิ่งเหล่านี้ซึ่งไม่ก่อประโยชน์ใดๆเลย

Emptiness here, Emptiness there
Always before your eyes.
Infinitely large and infinitely small:
No difference, for definitions have vanished
And no boundaries are seen.
So too with Being and non-Being.
Don't waste time in doubts and arguments
That have nothing to do with this.

สงบแท้จริง
ความสงบในความเงียบหาใช่ความสงบที่แท้จริงไม่
เมื่อท่านสามารถทำใจให้สงบได้
ท่ามกลางกิจกรรมต่างๆ
นั่นจึงเป็นสภาวะสงบที่แท้จริงของธรรมชาติ
เฉกเช่นเดียวกับความสุขจากความสะดวกสบาย
ย่อมไม่ใช่ความสุขที่แท้จริง
หากแต่เมื่อท่านสามารถมีความสุข
ท่ามกลางความยากลำบาก
นั่นแหละคือท่านได้เข้าถึงศักยภาพที่แท้จริงของจิตแล้ว

Calm in quietude is not real calm;
When you can be calm in the midst of activity,
This is the true state of nature.
Happiness in comfort is not real happiness:
When you can be happy in the midst of hardship,
Then you see the true potential of the mind.

ภาวนา
จงอย่าภาวนาด้วยจิตที่เจตนาให้อยู่ที่สุญญตา
ถ้าท่านทำเช่นนั้นจิตของท่านจะตกอยู่ในสภาวะที่ว่าง
แบบวางเฉยเป็นกลางๆเท่านั้น เพราะที่จริงแล้ว
พระอาทิตย์ พระจันทร์ ดวงดาว และ ดาวเคราะห์
ผืนโลกอันไพศาล ภูเขาและแม่น้ำ ต้นไม้และต้นหญ้า
คนเลวและคนดี สิ่งชั่วและสิ่งดี สวรรค์และนรก
เหล่านี้ ... ล้วนอยู่ท่ามกลางสุญญตาทั้งสิ้น
- ฮุ่ยเหนิง (พ.ศ. 1181 - 1256)
Do not sit with a mind fixed on emptiness.
If you do, you will fall into a neutral kind of emptiness.
Emptiness includes the sun, moon, stars and planets,
the great earth, mountains and rivers,
All trees and grasses, bad men and good men,
bad things and good things, heaven and hell;
They are all in the midst of emptiness.

จงค้นให้พบพุทธจิตเดิมแท้ของท่าน
จิตนั้นหยุดนิ่งและไม่เคยหยุดพัก

หากท่านไม่บำเพ็ญและจิตท่านไม่กระจ่าง
ท่านจะเสียเวลาไปเปล่าๆทั้งชีวิต

Investigate your mind and realize
Your Buddha-nature -
That which never rests nor moves,
Neither starts nor stops.
You will have wasted your lifetime if you don't.

ช่างสงบและเยือกเย็น ไร้คำบรรยาย ความสว่างชัดปรากฏอยู่ตรงหน้า
เมื่อท่านตรึกนึกถึงมัน ท่านจะกลายเป็นผู้เบ่งบาน
เมื่อท่านซ้อนสรรพ เป็นหนึ่งเดียวกับมัน
สภาวะจิตของท่านจะเจิดจรัส และเบิกบาน
เมื่อเปรียบเทียบกับ ความสว่างไสวของน้ำค้างใต้แสงจันทร์
ความสว่างไสวของดวงดาว จำนวนมหาศาล
ความขาวโพลนของหิมะบนยอดสน หรือเมฆขาวบนยอดดอย
ในความมืดมิดแล้ว มันสว่างเจิดจ้าที่สุด
แต่ถ้าซ่อนมันไว้ ความกระจ่างชัดทั้งหมดในความรู้สึก จะเพิ่มมากขึ้น

Guidepost of Silent Illumination
Silent and serene, forgetting words,
Bright clarity appears before you.
When you reflect it, you become vast,
When you embody it, you are
spiritually awakened.

Clouds enveloping the peak.
In darkness it is most bright,
While hidden it is all the more manifest.

ดั่งแสงจันทร์ที่ส่องกระทบคลื่น
ดั่งกล้วยไม้ที่เติบโตในที่ร่ม
ดั่งต้นไม้ที่ผลิใบและดอกเองตามฤดูกาล
สิ่งเหล่านี้เป็นไปโดยไม่ต้องมีจิตควบคุม
แต่สามารถให้ผลลัพธ์ที่แน่นอนได้

Responding to conditions, care free and without restraint.
Like clouds finally raining,
Like moonlight following the current,

มีเพียงน้ำใสสะอาดเท่านั้น

เฝ้ามองให้ดี เมื่อลมหยุดพัดและคลื่นบนผิวน้ำสงบลง
ดวงจันทร์ที่แจ่มกระจ่างก็ยังคงงดงามเหมือนเดิม

Don't say that only clear
water mirrors the moon,
Muddy water also reflects the sky.
Watch, after the wind has settled
And the waves are calm,

จงหยุดการปฏิบัติแบบนึกคิดเอาเอง
จงเชื่อในพระธรรมและปฏิบัติตามคำสอน

เมื่อนั้นรูปขันธ์และนามขันธ์ จะหายไป
จิตก็จะกระจ่างชัดในรูปลักษณ์เดิม

Cease practice based on
intellectual understanding,
Pursuing words and following
after speech,And learn the
backward step that Turn your

It is pitiful that we are living in
a treasure mountain

If you think that you have cut off illusory mind,
instead of simply clarifying how illusory mind melts,
illusory mind will come up again,

If you use your mind to study reality,
You won't understand either your mind or reality.
If you study reality without using your mind,
You'll understand both.
People capable of true vision know that

เมื่อสภาวะจิตของท่านมีสติสมบูรณ์เต็มที่

You should learn to practice in the midst of things.
You have to learn to make
use of your practice
When eating, speaking,
and carrying out all kinds of activities
Without growing slack,
As your mind matures, your practice will
Become one with these activities.

you come to possess the jewel,

Suddenly one day everything is empty
like space that has no inside or outside,

one principle pervading all the ten thousand things.
You know then that your heart is so vast that
it can never be measured.

What is in the end to be shrunk,
must first be stretched.
Whatever is to be weakened,
must begin by being made strong.
What is to be overthrown,
must begin by being set up.
He who would be a taker,
must begin as a giver.
This is called the soft overcomes
the hard and the weak, the strong.

best to leave the sharpest weapons
where none can see them."

ผู้บรรลุเต๋าย่อมเป็นนายของตัวเอง

ท่ามกลางความวุ่นวายและความสกปรก
เขาก็จะเป็นเสมือนดอกบัว

Those who attain the Tao are masters of themselves.
The universe is dissolved for them.
Throw them in the company of the noisy and the dirty,
And they will be like a lotus flower
growing from muddy water.
Touched by it, yet unstained.

บัณฑิต
ผู้เป็นบัณฑิต ....มาถึงโดยไม่ต้องเดินทาง
....เห็นทุกสิ่งโดยไม่ต้องดู
....ไม่ต้องทำอะไรทั้งสิ้น แต่ก็สำเร็จทุกสิ่ง
- เหล่าซือ -
The sage arrives without going,
Sees all without looking,
Does nothing, yet achieves everything.
- Lao Tzu -
เรียนรู้
ความลี้ลับแห่งศิลป์ที่แท้จริงคือ
การทำตัวเป็นผู้เริ่มเรียนรู้อยู่ตลอดเวลา
เพราะในใจของผู้เริ่มเรียนรู้
จะไม่มีความคิดที่ว่า "ฉันได้บรรลุบางอย่าง"
เมื่อนั้นเราจึงสามารถเรียนรู้บางสิ่งบางอย่างได้จริงๆ
ต่อเมื่อเรารักษาความคิดข้างต้นไว้ ธรรมะก็จักคงอยู่

This is the real secret of the arts:
always be a beginner.
Then we can really learn something.
In the Beginner's mind,
There is no thought, "I have attained something".
If you keep your original mind,
The precepts will keep themselves.

มรรควิถี
จงปล่อยวางพันธนาการภายนอก
อย่าปลุกเร้าปรุงแต่งจิตภายใน
จงทำจิตของท่านให้เหมือนดั่งกำแพง
เมื่อนั้น ท่านจะดำเนินสู่หนทางที่เรียกว่า มรรควิถี

By putting to rest all external entangling objects,
And not agitating your inner mind,
And making your mind like a wall,
You can enter the Path.

ทุกคนบรรลุได้
ในคัมภีร์กล่าวว่า
"บัดนี้ข้าพเจ้าเห็นเหล่าสรรพสัตว์
ผู้มีจิตสำนึกอยู่ทุกหนแห่ง
ทุกคนล้วนมีสติปัญญา และคุณธรรม
ที่จะบรรลุเป็นอริยบุคคลได้
เพียงแต่เพราะเขาเหล่านั้นมีมโนคติและความยึดติดที่ผิด
ทำให้เขาเหล่านั้นไม่สามารถบรรลุมรรคผลได้"

The Flower Ornament Scripture says,
"I now see all sentient beings
everywhere fully possess the wisdom
and virtues of the enlightened ones, but
because of false conceptions and attachments
they do not realize it."

ที่พักพิงไม่ได้
กายฉันนั้นถือกำเนิดมาจากความไม่มีรูป ไม่มีร่าง
เหมือนภาพในฝัน
จิตสำนึกของผู้ที่อยู่ในความฝันเริ่มจากไม่มีอะไรเลย
ทั้งทุกข์และสุขในฝันจึงเป็นความว่างเปล่า
ฉันจึงอาศัยกายนี้เป็นที่พักพิงไม่ได้
- วิปัสสิน พุทธะ -
My body is born of formlessness,
Like a figure created in a dream.
The consciousness of a dream-man
is originally Naught,
Both Woe and Weal are Empty
And I have no abode.

หลักการทำสมาธิขั้นพื้นฐาน
คือปฏิบัติภารกิจ และกิจกรรมต่างๆ โดยใช้สมาธิ
และ มีสมาธิในการปฏิบัติภารกิจและการทำกิจกรรม

People meditating on the fundamental.
Carry out their ordinary tasks and activities
in the midst of meditation;
and carry out meditation
in the midst of ordinary tasks and activities.

มุกมณี
ภายในตัวฉันมีมุกที่สดใส
ฝังอยู่เป็นเวลานานใต้ละอองฝุ่น
บัดนี้ฝุ่นละอองหายไปแล้ว และ
มุกเม็ดนั้นกำลังส่องแสงแวววาว
แผ่ขยายออกไปทั่วขุนเขาและแม่น้ำ
- ฉูต้วน
There is a bright pearl within me,
Buried for a long time under dust,
Today, the dust is gone and the light radiates,
Shining through all the mountains and rivers.
- Shou-tuan
ต้นตอเดียวกัน
หากเราจะจำแนก
หิมะในชามเงินและ
นกกระสาใต้แสงจันทร์กลมสว่าง
ทั้งสองสิ่งย่อมแตกต่าง
แต่หากเราผสมกลมกลืนมันเข้าด้วยกัน
จะเห็นว่าทั้งหมดต่างก็มาจากต้นตอเดียวกัน
- เต๋า เต๋อ จิง
As snow is contained in a silver bowl,
And as a white heron hides in the bright moonlight,
When you classify them,
they are different from each other.
But when you unify them,
they are the same in the Source.

คิดทำไม
ทำไม? ไม่มีคำตอบ
นอกจากการเคลื่อนไหวของตาและคิ้ว
และที่นี่ ตัวฉันเองกำลังพยายามเฝ้าค้นหาคำตอบ
ในทุกแง่มุมให้คลายสงสัย แต่ยังไม่พบ
ในที่สุดฉันก็รู้สึกตัว และพบว่า
พระจันทร์ยังคงลอยอยู่เหนือแนวสน
แม่น้ำก็ยังคงไหลเชี่ยว
(ไม่รู้ว่าที่ผ่านมาคิดไปทำไม)

Why, it's but the motion of eyes and brows!
And here I've been seeking it far and wide.
Awakened at last, I find the moon
Above the pines, the river surging high.

สุขาวดี
เมื่อจิตกระจ่างและไร้สิ่งครอบงำ
ย่อมหยั่งรู้ถึงรูปแบบของสัจธรรม
เมื่อความคิดสิ้นสุด และ ลืมความรู้สึกต่างๆได้
ย่อมหยั่งรู้ถึงรูปแบบของสัจธรรม
เมื่อละความเห็นแก่ตัวและราคะได้
ย่อมเข้าถึงวิถีแห่งเต๋า
เมื่อจิตเรียบและง่าย บริสุทธิ์ และรวมเป็นหนึ่งได้
ย่อมเข้าถึงสุขาวดี
- ลิ เดาฮวน
When the mind is clear and
freed of preoccupations,
It is possible to fathom the
design of reality;
When thoughts are ended and feelings forgotten,
It is possible to fathom the design of reality.
When selfishness and desire disappear,
It is possible to arrive at the Tao.
When one is plain and simple, pure and whole,
It is possible to know the celestial.

เขาคือใคร
อย่าเสาะแสวงหาเขา มิฉะนั้นเขาจะหนีจากท่าน
ขณะนี้ซึ่งฉันอยู่อย่างโดดเดี่ยว
ฉันพบกับเขาในทุกหนแห่ง
เขาจะเป็นสิ่งที่ฉันเป็น
แต่ในทางกลับกัน ฉันไม่ใช่สิ่งที่เขาเป็น
เพียงแค่มีความเข้าใจในแนวทางนี้เท่านั้น
จึงจะสามารถหลอมรวมเป็นหนึ่งกับเขาได้

Do not seek him anywhere else,
Or he will run away from you?
Now that I go all alone,
I meet him everywhere.
He is even now what I am.
I am even now not what he is.
Only by understanding this way
Can there be a true union with the Self-So.

สงสัย
..... เมื่อฉันจากไปแล้ว
กาน้ำจะยังคงหวีดร้อง
และนกน้อยก็ยังคงส่งเสียงเพรียกร้องกันเจื้อยแจ้ว
ฉันสงสัยเพียงว่า ท่านจะยังคงจำคำของฉันได้อยู่หรือ
ยิ อาโออิ อิชชิ
When I've faded away
The kettle will still whistle
And the birds still sing.
I wonder if you'll recognize
The sound of my voice.

ความสุข
สำหรับตัวฉันมีความสุขในหนทางแห่งชีวิตประจำวัน
ในท่ามกลางเถาวัลย์ เมฆหมอก และถ้ำผา
ณ ที่นี้ในป่าพงรกชัฏ ฉันมีความเป็นอิสระ
ท่องเที่ยวไปโดยมีเมฆขาวเป็นมิตรร่วมทาง
ถนนนั้นมีมากมาย
แต่ไม่มีถนนสายใดที่นำไปสู่ ความหลุดพ้น
แต่สำหรับฉันซึ่งยังโง่เขลาอยู่
จะมีผู้ใดสามารถปลุกเร้าความคิดของฉันได้หรือ?
ยามค่ำคืน ฉันนั่งบนแท่งหินเพียงลำพัง
ในขณะที่ดวงจันทร์
กลมโตโผล่พ้นขุนเขา ที่เย็นยะเยือก...

As for me, I delight in the everyday Way,
Among mist-wrapped vines and rocky caves.
Here in the wilderness I am completely free,
With my friends, the white clouds, idling forever.
There are roads, but they do not reach the world;
Since I am mindless, who can rouse my thoughts?
On a bed of stone I sit, alone in the night,
While the round moon climbs up Cold Mountain.

ถ้ำในกาย
ในกายฉันมีถ้ำซึ่งภายในไม่มีอะไรเลย
บริสุทธิ์ และ ว่างเปล่าอย่างน่ามหัศจรรย์
แต่มีรัศมีเจิดจรัสดั่งแสงตะวัน

In my house there is a cave,
And in the cave is nothing at all.
Pure and wonderfully empty.
Resplendent, with a light like the sun.

ที่เดียวกัน
สิ่งมีชีวิตทั้งหลายเปรียบดั่งใบไม้บนต้นไม้ใหญ่
ที่หล่อเลี้ยงด้วยรากแก้วเดียว
มีการก่อกำเนิดและการสิ้นสุด จากแหล่งเดียวกัน
นั่นคือ สุญญตา
การก่อกำเนิดและการสิ้นสุดของสิ่งมีชีวิตก็เช่นเดียวกัน
ต่างก็ต้องกลับไปสู่ที่นั่น

All existences are like
the leaves on the trees:
Fed by the one Root.
Origin and end come from
the same Source,
Empty;
Origin and end alike
Go back to that.

เดิมฉันเกิดมาพร้อมจิตงามดั่งมณีพิสุทธิ์
แต่ถูกเคลือบด้วยฝุ่นผงไปตามกาล
มาบัดนี้ หลังชำระกิเลสจนหมดสิ้น
จิตนี้จึงเข้าถึงสรรพสิ่งอันอนันต์
อิกไคซันจู
I was born with a divine jewel.
Long since filmed with dust.
This morning, wiped clean,
It mirrors streams and mountains, without end.

ยอมรับ
ไม่ต้องพยายามแสวงหาสัจธรรม
ขอเพียงแต่ไม่ยึดมั่นกับความเชื่อ
แล้วท่านจะไม่ต้องเวียนว่าย อยู่กับสิ่งที่เป็นนามรูป
จงปล่อยวางให้สิ่งต่างๆเป็น อย่างที่มันเป็นอยู่
ยอมรับในธรรมชาติที่แท้จริงของสรรพสิ่ง
แล้วท่านจะเข้าสู่มรรคาแห่งการรู้แจ้ง
- ฉาน ฉ่าง
Do not try to seek the Truth.
Just don't cling to opinion.
And you won't linger in dualism.
Let go, leave things as they are.
Obey the true nature of things.
And you're in harmony
with the Way.

ธรรมคีตา
เมื่อจิตลุ่มลึกอยู่ในพระสูตร
เสียงจอแจในตลาด
จะใช่ธรรมคีตาหรือไม่?

Attaining the heart of the sutra
Are not even the sounds of the bustling marketplace
The preaching of the Dharma?

หนทาง
ผู้ปฏิบัติเพื่อทางแห่งความหลุดพ้น
แรกต้องเชื่อในหนทางแห่งธรรมนั้น
ผู้ที่เชื่อในธรรมย่อมต้องเชื่อว่าตน
อยู่ในหนทางนี้มาตั้งแต่ต้น

Those who would practice the Way
Should first of all believe in it.
Those who believe in the Way
Should believe that they have been in the Way
From the very beginning.

ท่วงทำนองแห่งวัชรจิต
เสียงสนกระซิบแผ่ว ทว่าน้อยคนนักจะหยุดฟัง
เมื่อดวงจิตที่โยกไหวนิ่งสงบ พลันจิตวัชระภายใน
ก็สะท้อนให้เห็นทุกสิ่งที่ซ่อนเร้นจากสายตาและกิ่งสน
แม้นอยู่ในความมืดสลัวยามค่ำคืน
และสะท้อนให้ได้ยิน แต่กระนั้นก็หาฟังไม่
ชีวิตในขณะนั้นดำเนินไป
อย่างองอาจ(ไม่หวั่นไหว) และเปี่ยมเมตตา
และดำเนินไปอย่างไม่ถอยหลังกลับ
(อนุตปาทธรรมกษานติ)
เราจะดำเนินไปตามทางแห่งเอกายนมรรค(หนทางเอก)
กระบวนท่าของกระบี่มีสองคม
อุปมาดั่งกุหลาบที่มีหนาม แต่ก็มีดอกบานสวยงาม
- ยิ อาโออิ อิชชิ
Song of the Diamond Heart
The pine tree's voice is always whispering,
Yet how many pause to listen?
For when the churning mind is still,
The Diamond Heart within reflects
even the falling dusk that
Shrouds every eye and branch,
and hears, but listens not.
Walking, then, with Courage and Kindness,
Never ceasing to walk in Wonder.
We follow our ancient path.
For the Way of the sword is folded two;
Like the rose we have thorns,
And like the rose, we unfold.
